“North Coast of the Peninsula of Samana”
In the eighties, Las Terrenas was a small fishing village, surrounded by wide hills and the ocean. This spot only opened up to tourism after the arrival of electricity 10 years ago. It is a paradise, a unique place in the Caribbean, the only spot that offers 30 km of virgin beaches, with pure white fine sand surrounded by coconuts trees
The wild luxuriant vegetation offers a variety of tropical trees that cannot be found anywhere else.
Certain beaches are protected by several coral reefs, forming a lots of small green and blue flat water lagoons.
In certain periods of the year, the beaches are bathed by rollers that allow the practice of surfing, kitesurfing and wakeboarding
With such an abundance of nature, the village of Las Terrenas offers an exceptional kind of tourism. No hotel has more than one floor and they are all located either on the beach or a few steps away in tropical gardens where the variety of trees is a permanent dream for nature lovers.
